Exactly 28 days ago I adopted an adult cat from the SPCA. On that day missmoppets cottage was born. My home was now her home.
The path to missmoppets cottage has been a steep, stony one through some very dark places. The past few years were particularly rough, but many clouds have begun to clear.
Here we are, my adoptee and I, at equilibrium, in missmoppets cottage. We are slowly getting to know each other. A little give and take here and there. A few little misunderstandings and uncertainties. My adoptee is timid. So am I. We appreciate each other. We love each other in our own ways. I think we need each other so much we are afraid…
The day I brought Miss Moppet home from the SPCA, she explored every room of the mobile home I live in. She seemed very happy. She seemed to want affection but nipped when she got over stimulated. Her claws were like daggers.

“My world became a merry-go-round. I hope it has stopped spinning.”
Miss Moppet comments on the sudden activity in her life when her owner of almost 7 years gave her up due to allergies.
I coaxed her to use the scratching post. Her claws are not so sharp now. She loves to be patted, but not always. She spends a lot of time napping in reclusive places like closets and under tables. I accept that.
Miss Moppet is an indoor cat and always has been. I would love to share my yard with her but I am not rushing anything. I love her and want her to be happy. I am letting things unfold day by day.
She is a beauty, body and soul. Very clever and agile too. Lucky lucky me.
