This has been a very unusual year weatherwise. Unpredictable. Hot weather and cold weather seesawing back and forth, confusing the plant life and gardeners. Somehow the plants adapted and my berry bushes are packed with fruit. The cherry bore wormless cherries for the first time in ten years (though there were some wormy ones eventually).
Flowers keep popping up all over the yard in unexpected places. My biggest black elderberry bush has shot up to way over my head. Herbs I purchased as seedlings are flourishing, after a long period of stalling after transplant.
And how is Miss Moppet? She too has had her ups and downs. At last her claws were trimmed, thanks to the help of a neighbour, She is almost recovered from a bout of diarrhea which had me terrified and very busy washing bedclothes, litter boxes and trying in vain to connect with a vet who would supply me with gabapentin. I need this med to calm her down enough to get her into a safe state for transporting.
By safe, I mean not biting, scratching, or twisting out of my hands and running off to an unreachable place. I carefully adjusted her diet her diet over the past week. No more cooked chicken. And smaller portions of her favourite wet and dry food throughout the day. Fresh water always available for her.
Friendlier than ever before now.

I have learned to listen more to her moods. Not to over pet her when she is not wanting attention. To pay more attention to her meows, which indicate when she does want some reassurance.
During her illness, she spent some long periods lying on top of me at night, our heartbeats and breathing joined. She is more respectful of me, and I am more respectful of her. As we live out each day in peaceful harmony, I pray.
